Awa ki te moana – River to Ocean
Winner of the ‘Most Outstanding Event’ at last year’s inaugural Savour Northland event, we are proud to represent our unique Te Tai Tokerau flavour profile in the 2025 event.
Join us for an awe-inspiring 2-hour sundowner excursion on the bay of islands vintage railway – share a canape style service of local delicacies, music and Northland wine along the beautiful Taumarere River.
When you take your seat, you’ll be treated to more than sensational scenery. Hosted by our award-winning Gold Qualmark service team, our Awa ki te moana – River to the ocean dining experience will fill your senses with the authentic flavours of Te Tai Tokerau New Zealand, inspired by the farmlands, wetlands and river you see through your window.
Service includes delicacies inspired by our scenic train journey connecting the Kawakawa-Taumarere River to the upper Bay of Islands harbour of Opua. Experience an appetizing selection of canapes matched with our choice of a local wine or non-alcoholic beverage, all served in our vintage carriages, with live jazz as we amble along the picturesque corridor towards Opua.
Our Savour Northland dining menu is served from our custom-built kitchen carriage, throughout the train with a mixture of inside and outside viewing options, incredible jazz music and a festive atmosphere.
With a feast of scenery and tantalising dishes served to your seat, all you need to do is sit back, relax, and savour the journey.
