We’ve fired up the spirit of the old driftwood fuelled coal range and are bringing back some of that old school baking with our layered honey cake this October. Rich and comforting, it’s our nod to a little slice of history in the bay and those long summers when ‘The Bungalow’ welcomed holiday guests to the shores of Kororāreka.

Step back a century and take a seat on that same verandah. Nothing quite captures the warmth of summer like fresh honey and thanks to the hard work of Maccabees Honey and their hives along the coastal bush blocks near Mangōnui, we’ve been able to bring you a cake packed with their mānuka and kānuka honey.

You can also opt for our perfect pairing and enjoy a slice of cake with a glass of Northlands finest. We’ve paired that summery honey with a glass of farm fresh milk from Bella Vacca Jerseys, located just across the water in Kawakawa.

Treat yourself to a slice and a glass and savour those halcyon days of summer in our little beach front café or stay longer and jump on a tour of our historic site.
